Cornell University, Electrical and Computer Engineering

"My name is Awan Awan, and I am an incoming freshman at Cornell University, where I plan to study Electrical and Computer Engineering with a minor in Smart Cities. I recently graduated from Lynn Vocational Technical Institute, where I studied the electrical trade. Outside the classroom, I am an athlete, a student researcher, and above all a big brother to five younger siblings. I am passionate about the intersection of biology, electrical engineering, green energy, and infrastructure. From wiring circuits in the trade program to studying protein interactions at the MIT Vos Lab, I've come to see engineering as a way to build systems biological, electrical, and civic that serve people better. That drive is shaped just as much by my siblings, who remind me daily why building a better, more sustainable world matters. I am grateful to be named the 2026 recipient of the Patrick W. Guerrette Memorial Scholarship, and I will honor Patrick's legacy by striving to make a lasting impact."
